Getting Yourself Organised!

Being organised appeals to some people more than others but for me personally, it is a way of life. That is why I have written this article for people who want to organise their life a bit better as the more organised you are, the better your day will be!

Here are some steps to take to get organised!

Organise your day.

This really works! It organises what you have to do in your head especially when it's written down on paper so starting by doing this will help. This is what mine looks like:

Get up around 7.30 - 8 am. Eat breakfast, cereal with fresh fruit.
Fresh and ready by 9am.
Do uni work/reading at 9am until around 12 - 12.30pm.
Lunch 1pm - Healthy as possible including fruit or raw veggies (very good for you!)
Back to uni work/reading/blog until 5pm with break, which consists of a snack preferably fruit, in between.
After 5pm - Me Time!

Planning the night before also lets your subconscious mind mull over these things while you sleep and will have fresh new strategies ready for the next day.

Organise yourself.

We as human beings naturally leave things we don't want to do to the very last minute because we feel we have more important things to do. But doing the important things as they come up is a great way to get things done and avoids procrastination. For example, do you need to plan for that essay coming up? Do it NOW, or as soon as possible, it instantly makes you feel better once you've done it. Maybe you've been thinking to contact a friend for coffee, well do it NOW and follow it through!

Also, sometimes we leave things to the last moment because it's something we don't want to do. But when our mind it set on things we don't enjoy doing, you dwell on it and are even less likely to get it done. Would you rather stay at home than go to work or university? Or would you rather get a takeaway because you can't be bothered to cook? Thinking about all the positives that would happen if you DID do the things you don't want to do changes the way you think about it. For example, prove to your lecturers at uni that you're desined for better things by turning up to that lecture you didn't want to go to. You are no slacker! It also means you don't miss out on important issues and broadens your knowledge. Or organising that coffee with a friend means your friendship won't suffer, especially if it's a friend you haven't seen in a long time. You both get to enjoy a cosy day in a warm coffe shop.

So, planning your time effectively and changing the way you think about the things you don't want to do stops procrastination and a better life for you.

Organise your life.

Calendars are good because at a glance you can see what you have to do for the rest of the month. Buying one of these and displaying in a prominent position in your home will work wonders. Post-It notes are also a great way to write down anthing important and can be stuck somewhere prominent.

If you don't want to carry a calendar around with you, buy a diary! These are prefect for organising day by day and handy to keep with you at all times in case you need to write something down.

Organise your money.

Budgeting is the key to life, especially if you want to save up for that outfit or day/night out. That's what you need to draw up a budget. Write down all your outgoings, down to the last penny and then write down your incomings. Include as much detail as possible. Keep records of everything you buy will make it easier to list your outgoings and be completely honest. There is no use missing out things which you know you spend money on but feel guilty in knowing you can't afford it.

If your outgoings are more than your incomings, then maybe cut down on certain things. For example, alcohol, or maybe get a part time job to balance things out. Whilst getting a job may not be everyone's cup of tea, it really does help but bringing the amount of money you have per month up, and stops you from spending money on things you might not need. No one would turn down extra money :)

Organise your wardrobe.

We all know what it's like to have clothes that we've bought and only worn once. Read my guide on wardrobe basics (which is coming soon) to make sure your wardrobe is clutter free!

So, there we are, your guide to organising your life! What are you doing to organise? Let me know.
